Battersea Park, London Featured In: After Benches (tapestry)
|
This picture [Benches] began its existence with a chance meeting between myself and a postcard on Euston Station at 8.05 a.m. on Tuesday 17th February 1970. Most of the many postcard purchases that I have made have the feeling of Ezra Pound's category, 'not source material but relevant'. This one however spoke to me directly of mortality... In Benches as in several other works, postcards comprise a portion of the original subject matter. The following pages exhibit a group of postcards that have turned up, as postcards do, in various places. They are accompanied by links to relevant works, and reflections on the deltiological genre. |
