Portraits:
Norman Rosenthal

Norman Rosenthal, the Exhibitions Officer at the Royal Academy, is a much painted man. Questions would have been asked, if not in the House then in the RA's private rooms, had I not joined the lists in the trial for nyong's' ofabu The-Likeness-By-Which-He-Shall-Be-Known. Who else with the possible exception of Vollard has been painted by artists as diverse as Julian Schnabel and Robert Medley?

The Portrait Works (1989),  p. 72, 99.
